Hydromed gel is an amorphous, viscous, sterile, and transparent gel consisting of >7O% water, calcium alginate, and carboxymethylcellulose. It has isotonic, hypoallergenic, and soothing properties.
Applied to the wound, it rehydrates necrotic tissues by gently removing them, facilitates autolytic “debridement,” and absorbs excess exudate from the wound.
The gel recreates a moist environment on the lesion surface, preventing eschar formation and accelerating epithelial cell migration.
Hydromed gel l is nonadherent and can be removed by irrigation with saline without damaging the newly formed fragile tissue or causing trauma to the patient.
Hydromed gel is used for autolytic cleansing of skin lesions, such as decubitus and lower extremity ulcers, cavity wounds, and skin graft sites, to treat lesions with necrotic and fibrinous tissue.
It can be used in first and second degree burns.
Benefits:
HYDROMED GEL rehydrates necrotic tissue and aids debridement.
HYDROMED GEL absorbs slough and exudate without damaging fragile granulation tissue.
- Creates moist wound healing environment:
HYDROMED GEL helps create an optimal moist wound management environment, which promotes healing, reduces the likelihood of scarring, and soothes pain.
- Stable and counteract leakage and maceration:
The viscous texture of the gel makes it stay in place, and even after absorption of debris and exudate the gel will remain cohesive and counteract leakage and maceration.
- LATEX FREE
- Easy to remove:
The gel is easy to remove due to high cohesion even after absorption of debris and exudate
- Easy to apply: remains in-situ.
Indications:
- HYDROMED GEL is primarily intended for the treatment of necrotic and sloughy wounds, such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and non-infected diabetic foot ulcers.
- HYDROMED GEL may also be used on 1st and 2nd degree burns. The gel may be used throughout the healing process to provide a moist wound healing environment in all types of wounds
